Development 1
This game is a project for the UAT class Game-A-Week, which is similar to a solo game jam marathon. One of the weeks' themes was "bees," which is where this game was conceived. I wanted the inclusion / presence of bees to be the hook, and decided the best scenario would be a children's birthday party while the player acts as the parent who refuses to give up. The game was originally going to be about equipping the kids with squirt guns, but after developing that much and playtesting, I realized that there was no real "goal" that makes sense, short of a "how many kids are still conscious at the end," but then that led to the question of "when does it end?" Ultimately, I settled on the party ending when all of the cake has been eaten, and worked out the mechanics of kids shooting parallel to kids kids eating, in terms of "more kids showing up" and doing CPR on the fallen kids.
